UPPER WEST SIDE — An Italian bakery and pizza shop selling 4-foot-long pizzas is opening on Amsterdam Avenue this month, the owner said.
Farinella Bakery is set to open its third location in the city near West 72nd Street, as first reported by the West Side Rag. The bakery also has Midtown and an Upper East Side locations, delivering to the southern end of Central Park.
The focus of the bakery will be Italian breads, including focaccia and rustic-style breads, in addition to pizza and salad. The eatery is also applying for a license to serve wine and beer, said owner Alberto Cretara.
Farinella is well-known for its four-foot long "palam," a Roman-style pizza that feeds five to six people and is the "equivalent of two and a-half 14-inch round pies," according to the bakery's site.
The restaurant will have a small eat-in area that will seat between 12 and 14 patrons, and it will offer both takeout and delivery, Cretara added.
The bakery hopes to open its Upper West Side location by the end of August, he said.
