JACKSON HEIGHTS — An elderly man was beaten with a metal pipe by another driver over a parking spot, police said.

The 74-year-old victim was trying to park in front of a barber shop at 32-65 83rd St. at about 1:40 p.m. on July 11, when another driver hopped out of a nearby car and struck him in the face with a metal pipe, then fled, according to police.

There wasn't a verbal altercation before the attack, and police said it appears to be related to the parking space.

The victim was treated at Elmhurst Hospital for swelling and cuts and later released.

The suspect is described as in his 30s with black hair, brown eyes, standing approximately 5 foot 9, and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the attack, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
