Washington Square Park sunbathers and strollers got a high-class treat when a pair of breakdancers broke out into a classical ballet performance in the middle of the park.
The act was part of Improv Everywhere, the self-described local "prank collective" with the motto "We Cause Scenes."
The faux breakdancers were actually professional ballet dancers, according to a blog post by Improv Everywhere, as were the two "volunteers" they pulled from their audience.
The act was apparently inspired by Tic & Tac, twin brothers reputed the be the first breakdancers to ever stake out performance space in the park.
