BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Beat the heat this summer with fresh, cold-pressed juices from a raw food spot set to open on Fulton Street.

Fuel BC, a new salad bar and juicery, is expected to start serving its first smoothies in August, according to owner Jorge Herrera.

Herrera, 23, said he sought to open the shop after driving through Bed-Stuy and searching to no avail for healthy food options.

“Growing up around the area, I would try to find even a salad and didn’t find too many places,” he said. “If I can inform people to make better health decisions and be more conscious, that’s the goal.”

Herrera’s choice to serve organic, cold-pressed juices is a nod to the younger days when his father used to persuade him to drink blends of fruits and vegetables, he added.

“BC is for ‘be charged,’” Herrera said of the eatery’s name. “It’s focused on today and tomorrow, and the decisions we make for the future that will make us better.”

The 1,500 square-foot space at 1183 Fulton St. offers seating for up to 15 people and features a large production room with a hydraulic juice press.

Menu items include a smoothie with pineapple, banana, ginger, mint, agave and coconut water, and a juice made with kale, spinach, and lemon. Raw desserts will also be on sale, and nothing at Fuel BC will be fried or baked.

Produce will be delivered daily, the owner said, adding that he hopes to expand the menu with offerings like acai bowls.

The shop is expected to open the second week of August. For updates, visit the Fuel BC website.
