Video Shows Moment Before Man was Shot in Back of Head in Bronx

THE BRONX — A man was fatally shot twice in the back of the head at point-blank range in broad daylight in Melrose Thursday morning, according to police and surveillance video.

The video shows a man running down Westchester Avenue with a gun in his hand, raising it and pointing it at the back of Luis Garcia's head. 

Garcia, 40, of 625 Jackson Ave., was outside 650 Westchester Ave., near Jackson Avenue, about 8:40 a.m. when he was shot, police said.

He was pronounced dead at Lincoln Medical Center, police said.

The suspect appears to have been wearing a black hat, dark T-shirt and shorts. Police are investigating the incident.
