CLAREMONT — A pair of muggers attacked and robbed a Bronx livery cab driver while he was dropping off a passenger, according to the NYPD.
The 55-year-old driver was letting out his passenger at 1408 Webster Ave. in the 42nd Precinct around 2 a.m. on July 12, when a man who was supposedly her friend came up to the car to pay for her fare, police said.
He got into a fight with the driver over how much the ride cost and punched him in the face, and another man then hit the driver on the head with an unknown object and snatched his wallet, which contained $100, according to police.
The passenger and both suspects fled, and the driver was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.
Officers described the first suspect as a 240-pound man with braided hair who was last seen in a white T-shirt, dark blue jeans and white sneakers, and they described the second suspect as a man of medium build last seen in a yellow shirt, tan shorts and white sneakers.
Video of the suspects shows one walking through a hallway and the other walking around on a sidewalk.
