VIDEO: Go Behind the Scenes With Instagram's FoodBabyNY

By Heidi Patalano | June 29, 2015 5:09pm | Updated on June 30, 2015 7:43pm

Toddler Matthew Chau has become an Instagram phenomenon due to his starring role in dad Mike Chau's feed, FoodBabyNY, which features the nearly 2-year-old kid enjoying (or just being present near) treats from all five boroughs.

Now 47.5k followers strong and with 2,698 posts behind them, the Chau's Instagram fame earned them a a behind-the-scenes look by Zagat and Huffington Post:

The video follows the Chaus on a Sunday as they hit five restaurants, "a typical Sunday for us," Mike Chau says on camera.

The Chau family lives in the Financial District, but drives around to the outer reaches of Queens and Staten Island to sample the latest buzzworthy foods. In the video, the family visits Queens Comfort in Astoria, appearing at the storefront to an excited cry of "Hey everybody, it's Food Baby!"

Last November, AM New York interviewed the elder Chau about the origins of his son's social media fame:

"For the past few years, I've really loved eating out and taking pictures of good food. Once my son was born I was equally as obsessed with taking pictures of him. I realized that the same pictures of food or the same pictures of a sleeping baby started to get boring — no matter how good the food looked or how cute the baby was — so I thought it would be fun and funny to combine the two," Chau told AM New York.

The Chaus are expecting a second (Food)baby girl this November.

Our favorite FoodBabyNY Instagram posts happen to be the ones in which Chau wears desserts on his head:
