NEW YORK CITY — Roosevelt Island is now part of the “select areas” for one-hour delivery service from Amazon Prime Now, the Roosevelt Islander blog reported.
The company tweeted on Tuesday:
Last week we added delivery to Roosevelt Island (10044). No need to hop on the tram, we'll come to you! http://t.co/7rY9Oq6xZf

Amazon Prime Now is an app available to Prime users who can get "daily essentials" like home basics, groceries or even toys delivered to their door within two hours for free or in an hour for $7.99.
When it was launched in December 2014 the service was offered to several neighborhoods in Manhattan with the promise of expanding gradually to the whole city, as previously reported.
Roosevelt Island wasn’t one of the “select areas” when the app first launched, sparking complaints among residents:
Amazon PrimeNow refuses to recognize Roosevelt Island as part of Manhattan. This is a grave injustice, everyone. pic.twitter.com/xXLNdudvbX

Amazon Prime Now continues to add new zip codes to the service according to an Amazon spokesperson, and Prime users can download the app and be notified when the service is available in their area.
