CHELSEA — A man punched a stranger in the face in the 14th Street and Eighth Avenue subway station to "let out" his anger, according to authorities.

"I hit him 'cause I was mad," the attacker, 27, told police after socking the 42-year-old victim last Friday at 2:15 a.m. "I did it to let out my anger."

The attacker is homeless, his lawyer, Sam Sloane of New York Defender Services said. He was arrested and charged with assault and harassment. He could not be reached for comment.
