Man Punched and Hit With Barricade in Williamsburg Robbery, Police Say

WILLIAMSBURG — A man suffered bruising and a cut to his head after he was was punched and hit with a barricade during a robbery, police said.

The victim, 21, was near Broadway and Union Avenue on Thursday, June 18 around 5:15 p.m. when a 17-year-old boy punched the victim while another man took his cash, according to police and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.

The boy and the other man, who was about 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds, took $300 from the victim and started to flee, police said.

When the victim chased the two down, the teenager hit the victim in the head with a barricade, causing substantial pain, bruising and a cut to the head, according to police and a criminal complaint.

The victim went to Bellevue Hospital with injuries.

The 17-year-old was arrested and slammed with nearly a dozen charges, including robbery, assault, menacing and criminal possession of stolen property, according to a criminal complaint. His next court date is Wednesday.

He was also arrested in May for unlawful possession of marijuana, according to the court system. He also has an infraction for jaywalking.

His attorney did not immediately respond to request for comment.
