PROSPECT HEIGHTS — Bocce ball and basketball courts, a dog run and gardens are slated for the Pacific Park complex near the Barclays Center, according to new renderings of the plans for the green space.
On Wednesday, the developers of the complex formerly known as Atlantic Yards unveiled features of the open space to be built inside their Prospect Heights development adjacent to the Barclays Center.
The planned park, which was required by the state as part of the project's Final Environmental Impact Statement, will be open to the public during the day year-round, according to developer Greenland Forest City Partners.
The green space, designed by Thomas Baisley Associates, includes tree-lined pathways leading through the development's 10 residential towers, which will rise between Vanderbilt and Sixth avenues to the east and west of Atlantic Avenue and Dean Street to the north and south.
Work on three of the 10 buildings — 535 Carlton Ave., 38 Sixth Ave. and 550 Vanderbilt Ave. — has already started. The first two will be made up of affordable units, while the third will be a market-rate condo tower.
Once completed, the open space at Pacific Park will be open to the public from 7 a.m. to sunset from Oct. 1 to April 30, and from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. from May 1 to Sept. 30.
