PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — She gave a stranger beer money and got bruises in return.

A 27-year-old woman was hospitalized this week in Crown Heights after an apparently drunk man who asked her for money to buy beers hit her in the face with an empty bottle, police said.

The incident happened at 4:15 Wednesday morning as the woman was walking home past 181 Clarkson Avenue near Rogers Avenue. There, the man and two other visibly intoxicated men approached her, saying “Give me money to buy beers,” she reported to police.

She gave the man $7, at which point he hit her in the head with an empty glass bottle he’d been holding, cutting and bruising the right side of her face.

The woman was treated at Kings County Hospital for her injuries.

The three men fled after the attack and have not been identified, police said.
