MARINERS HARBOR — A Staten Island man overdosed while driving his car and caused a three vehicle accident on Saturday, prosecutors said.

Michael Sztropkayli, 38, was driving a 2004 black Lincoln Town Car on Forest Avenue, near South Avenue, about 1 p.m. with a needle in his right hand when he overdosed on heroin, prosecutors said.

Police found Sztropkayli unconscious with his car against a bench on the sidewalk and administered Naloxone to reverse the effects of the OD, prosecutors said. They also found glassine envelopes of heroin inside the car, prosecutors said.

Sztropkayli was driving with a suspended license because of a prior DWI conviction, according to court documents.

He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle at his arraignment, according to the Staten Island District Attorney's office.

Sztropkayli was released without bail and he's due back in court on July 28, according to online court records.

His lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
