WEST BRIGHTON — Two NYPD officers were hit by a car in Staten Island after pulling over its driver for running a red light on Tuesday, police said.

The officers saw a late model Nissan Altima with three males inside run the light at Vanderbilt and Osgood avenues at 1 a.m., police said.

They pulled over the car in front of 51 Coursen Place and, when they approached the vehicle, the driver put it in reverse, hitting one officer in the right knee and the other in the right hip, police said.

The car then drove off in an unknown direction, police said.

Both officers were treated at a nearby hospital and released.
