CHINATOWN — A man struck a woman with a bag containing a heavy object Monday afternoon, police said, continuing a series of attacks targeting Asian women.

The man has attacked four women since Wednesday, police said.

In the latest incident, the man hit a 41-year-old woman in the face at about 4 p.m. while she was working inside a store near 48 Mulberry St., according to the NYPD.

The man initially tried to strike up a conversation with her, and left when she ignored him, police said. But then he returned with a gray bag containing a heavy object and attacked her.

She was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital, where she was treated and released, officials said.

Police described the attacker as a 5-foot-11 man with brown eyes and black hair, and weighing 160 pounds. He's seen in a surveillance video released Monday wearing jeans and a black-and-white striped T-shirt.

The man has attacked several other women in Manhattan with a similar weapon. The attacks occurred near the intersection of Second Avenue and East 60th Street, on Park Avenue near East 30th Street and near 155 Grand St., according to the NYPD.

Police believe he was targeting the women because they were Asian.

Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or submit tips on their website.
