2 Muggers Attack Man in Central Park, Steal His Cash, Police Say

CENTRAL PARK — A pair of muggers who threw a man to the ground, beat him up, and stole his cash on June 5 on the east side of Central Park are still at large, police said. 

The two suspects, described as men in their late teens or early twenties, attacked the 28-year-old victim as he was walking in Central Park near the 102nd Street path and East Drive around 10 p.m., the NYPD said.

The attackers approached the man from behind and pushed him over a railing onto the ground before punching him while holding him down, officials said. They stole his cash, $30 dollars, and fled, officials said.

The victim was injured on his face and hands, police said.

A surveillance video released by the police captured the two men fleeing the park.The suspects were both wearing dark hoodies and jeans, according the video and photos released by the police on Monday.

In May, the NYPD said it would increase its Central Park patrols after the park was hit by a succession of robberies.
