► Dear Deer Art Installation

Where: 103 Allen Street, Lower East Side

Help an anthropomorphic deer write a poem in this interactive art installation by Yu-Ting Feng. Visitors can type in responses to prompts from the bespectacled deer on the screen and receive a printed poem. The free event runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

► Free Screening of "Selma" and Conversation with Civil Rights Leader Amelia Boynton Robinson

Where: United Palace Theater 4140 Broadway, Washington Heights

Amelia Boynton Robinson was a key figure in the civil rights movement who worked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to organize the initial march in Selma. Here Dr. Boynton Robinson’s first-hand account of the day during a conversation with Xavier Eikerenkoetter, leader of the United Palace House of Inspiration congregation. The conversation will take place on Sunday, June 14 at 12 p.m.

On Friday, catch the free screening of the film "Selma," which depicts many of the events about which Boynton Robinson will be speaking. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film will begin at 7:30 p.m.

► 10th Annual Jazz Age Festival

Where: Governor's Island

Join this family-friendly roaring twenties garden party featuring live jazz orchestras, dance lessons, performances, antique cars, games, vintage vendors, food and drink. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets start at $55.

► "Pather Panchali"

Where: Film Forum, 209 West Houston St., Hudson Square

See filmmaker Satyajit Ray's 1955 debut film about an impoverished priest who leaves his rural village in search of a better life for him and his family. The film was the first in Ray's Apu trilogy. Showings are at 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. each day. Tickets are $13.

Friday, June 12

► A Rose in Harlem Exhibit

Where: Rio III Gallery, 898 St. Nicholas Avenue, Sugar Hill

Award-winning visual artist Andrea Arroyo will open her solo exhibit, “A Rose in Harlem” on Friday night. Arroyo, who works in range of media including painting, illustration and installation, will display a group of works inspired by historical and contemporary woman of Harlem’s Sugar Hill neighborhood. The exhibit is free and on display through August 20th. The opening reception runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday, June 13

► Chelsea Music Festival

Where: St. Paul's German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 315 W. 22nd St., Chelsea

Experience Finland without leaving New York City. This family-friendly event allows the audience to see, taste and hear Finland by listening to Finnish tangos, creating Finnish-inspired art and tasting popular Finnish treats. The celebration runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children.

► Positively Eighth Street Festival

Where: West 8th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, Greenwich Village

Eighth Street will be shut down for a day of free games, crafts and workshops as part of the Department of Transportation's Weekend Walks program. This year has some new surprises in store, like a massive tug-of-war between local merchants to benefit P.S. 41. Beth Israel is offering health screenings, 305 Fitness is giving free classes, and Potatopia is coming with "potato games." The free festival runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Check the website for the schedule and more information.

► The Andylousian Dogs featuring Nelson Slater

Where: 6th and B Community Garden at Sixth Street and Avenue B, East Village

The Andylousian Dogs and Nelson Slater, musicians who collaborated with Lou Reed, will perform at the 6th and B Community Garden. The free show runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sunday, June 14

► Outdoor Uptown Games

Where: Riverbank State Park, Hamilton Heights

Uptown kids from 3rd to 8th grade can come out to receive coaching on various track and field events. The day will culminate with a friendly track meet, with medals for all participants. The free event runs from 8 a.m. to noon. Registration closes at 8:45 a.m. the same day. Contact the office of State Senator Adriano Espaillat for more details.

► 5th Annual Bloomingdale Family Days

Where: Amsterdam Avenue from 106th to 110th Streets, Morningside Heights

Enjoy salsa lessons, kids crafts, poetry readings, music, chair massages and more at this festival geared towards the whole family. The all-day event also features lessons on how to ride a bike, education about recycling and protecting the environment and an appearance by the Fire Department, with a truck. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

► Open House at City Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal’s House

Where: 563 Columbus Avenue, Upper West Side

Join City Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal, who represents the Upper West Side, at her open house, which will feature music and free food. The open house runs from noon to 3 p.m.

► DayLife Presents Lower EAT Side

Where: Orchard Street between East Houston and Delancey Streets, Lower East Side

The Lower East Side Business Improvement District's annual street festival will include DJ sets, live music curated by Cake Shop and food from local eateries like Wassail, the Meatball Shop and Black Tree. A "holistic wellness lounge" will also offer pet reiki, tarot card readings and a numerology matchmaking service. The free festival runs from noon to 5 p.m.
