MIDTOWN — The suspect wanted for groping a woman in a Midtown stairwell last Thursday was recorded staring directly into a surveillance camera after the attack, a police video shows.

Police released the recording Tuesday of the man they believe lured a 41-year-old woman into a stairwell in a West 32nd Street building on June 4 at about 4 p.m. He then grabbed her from behind and fondled her chest, police said.

The woman was able to break free and scream, causing him to flee.

The suspect can also be seen in the video walking calmly down a hallway in the building wearing a Yankee cap and hoodie, before stopping in front of an elevator and looking into the security camera.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
