CHELSEA — A man punched a stranger on the street after mistakenly believing the victim had called him a "p---y," authorities said.

The 24-year-old victim was walking on Ninth Avenue near West 16 Street at 3:10 a.m. on May 31 when he heard a man in front of him call another man behind the victim a “p---y,” police said.

The man who heard the insult then punched the victim in the back of the head, sending him to the hospital, according to authorities.
