UPPER WEST SIDE — A person was struck by a 3 train at the West 72nd Street subway station in Manhattan Friday morning, officials said.

The person, who was not immediately identified, was hit by the train just after 11 a.m. and was alive but in respiratory arrest, according to the MTA and FDNY.

The victim was taken to St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in serious but stable condition, fire officials said. It was not clear how the person was struck.

Southbound 1, 2, and 3 trains were bypassing 72nd Street for a short time because of the incident, but service resumed with delays around 12:30 p.m., according to the MTA website.
