THE BRONX — A man died Wednesday, five days after four men beat him unconscious with a baseball bat in High Bridge, police said.

His attackers were still at large Thursday morning, police said.

Bakari Sissoko, 47, was being attacked across the street from 1575 Townsend Ave., near East Mount Eden Avenue, about 3:40 a.m., when two EMS workers happened to be walking by and stopped the attack, NYPD officials said.

The attackers ran into 1562 Townsend Ave., according to the NYPD's Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

Sissoko, who emigrated from Mali to Claremont, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with fractures to his skull and face, police said.

He died Wednesday, police said.

There had been no arrests as of Thursday morning, police said.

Investigators released video footage of three men spotted near the scene — one of whom is carrying a baseball bat — and said they are looking to question the men.

The trio were not immediately considered suspects, police said.
