QUEENS — The upcoming Forest Hills street festival, which offers live music, food and art from more than 200 vendors, will add beer and hookah gardens this year, organizers said.

The annual Festival of the Arts, planned for June 14, will be held on Austin Street for the 15th time.

But this will be the first time the event, which attracts about 50,000 people each year, will offer the outdoor gardens.

“The plan is to serve food and beer and to have some tables for people to sit at,” said Leslie Brown, president of the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event.

“Forest Hills has never had anything like that so we are really excited about it."

One of the beer gardens will be located in front of Bareburger at 71-49 Austin St. Another will be run by Forest Hills Station House on the corner of Austin Street and Continental Avenue.

There will also be a wine garden hosted by The Wine Room of Forest Hills, which will be located near Cohen’s Fashion Optical, also on the corner of Austin Street and Continental Avenue. The hookah garden, which will also serve beer, will be in front of 718 Hookah Lounge at 72-13 Austin St.

The festival will also offer free live music and entertainment.

Demonstrations from local dance and martial arts studios will begin at 11 a.m. on the stage located on 70th Road, between Austin Street and Queens Boulevard.

There will also be a concert from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring Carlos Estrella and NVIVO playing Latin, pop and rock music, Brown said.

“It’s going to be very cool and fun,” she added.

The Forest Hills Festival of the Arts will take place on Austin Street, from 69th to 72nd roads, on June 14 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce at 718-268-6565 or go here
