THE BRONX — A group of shoplifting men attacked a Fordham bodega worker when he tried to stop them from leaving the store with a handful of snacks, police said.

Video surveillance inside the store captures the violent assault on May 27 about 11 p.m. at 2253 Grand Concourse.

The men walk into the bodega, grabbed chips and sodas from the shelves and headed toward the door, the video shows.

When the worker, carrying a cane, confronted them at the exit, the group jumped the man and started swinging wildly and throwing items from the shelves at him, police said.

Outside the bodega, the suspects hit the bodega worker on the head with an umbrella, police said.

The business could not immediately be reached for comment.
