BROOKLYN — Police released new video of a man they said choked a woman unconscious and sexually assaulted her in a Crown Heights basement.

The suspect, who has a scarred and discolored eye, had not been arrested as of Wednesday morning, police said.

The 59-year-old woman was sitting on a bench on Eastern Parkway about 6 p.m. on May 23 when a man struck up a conversation with her, NYPD officials said.

She said she needed to use a restroom so he led her to an apartment building on Albany Avenue and directed her to the basement, police said.

He choked and sexually assaulted her in the basement stairwell, police said. He then brought her into the basement where he choked her unconscious and attacked her again, police said.

He fled the scene and had not been arrested as of Wednesday morning, NYPD officials said.

The woman was treated and released from an area hospital, police said.

The suspect, who can be seen in new surveillance footage walking down the street carrying a yellow bag, is about 60, 5-feet-10 inches and 200 pounds, police said.

Police said that along with a damaged eye, he also spoke in what they described as a "Caribbean accent."

Investigators initially released footage of him lurking in a alley doorway and in the entrance of an apartment building.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
