QUEENS — It will now be easier for Queens residents to get their city identification cards.

Seeking to address “tremendous demand” for the IDNYC cards, a pop-up enrollment center based at Queens Borough Hall will open Tuesday for about two weeks, officials said.

The city identification cards, which are available for all New Yorkers aged 14 and over, have been very popular among residents since they were introduced by Mayor Bill de Blasio in January.

After the program launched, thousands of New Yorkers were willing to spend hours in lines waiting for their appointments.

“The IDNYC program has proven itself as an effective tool to ensure equal access to municipal services — from benefits... to parents visiting their kids at school,” Borough President Melinda Katz said.

“We can’t register New Yorkers fast enough.”

Residents can apply for the cards at about 20 enrollment sites.

The cards provide proof of identity and access to basic city services for thousands of New Yorkers, including numerous immigrants who didn't have IDs before.

Residents can present them to open bank accounts, join public libraries or pick up prescriptions at pharmacies.

According to published reports, more than 100,000 New Yorkers currently use municipal ID cards.

The IDNYC Pop Up Enrollment Center will operate at Queens Borough Hall from June 2 to June 16. Appointments can be made either by calling 311 or going online. Applicants are required to present proof of identity and residency in New York City. A list of documents that are acceptable can be found here

Queens Borough Hall is located at 120-55 Queens Blvd. in Kew Gardens, near the Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike subway station on the E and F lines.
