Man Punches 6-Year-Old Boy in Face in Bronx Laundromat: NYPD

THE BRONX — A man punched a 6-year-old boy in the face after trying to steal his mother’s iPhone in a Bronx laundromat early Sunday morning, according to the NYPD.

The suspect approached the 22-year-old mom in the Family Laundromat at 1720 Boone Ave. and tried to sell her DVDs, police said.

When the mom turned him down, he grabbed her phone, which was charging on a nearby chair, and tried to take off.

She chased after him as he tried to flee, when he circled back toward the exit, he punched the woman's son in the face, knocking him to the ground, according to the NYPD.

The mother continue to pursue the man into the parking lot where she again grabbed him and wrestle her iPhone back. The man broke free again and fled.

The boy suffered swelling to his face and lacerations to the back of his head. The mother suffered minor injuries.

They were both treated at a local hospital.

The man was seen on video wearing a baseball cap, baggy jacket and pants. He is about 50 to 55 years old with a thin build.
