CROWN HEIGHTS — A 60-year-old man choked and sexually assaulted a 59-year-old Saturday night after luring the woman into the basement of an apartment building, police said.

The victim, who did not know her assailant, was sitting on a park bench on Eastern Parkway around 6 p.m., police said, when the  suspect approached her and started a conversation.

When the woman said she needed to use a bathroom, the suspect walked with her to an Albany Avenue apartment building, led her into a basement stairwell and choked her and forced her to perform oral sex, police said. He then brought her down to the basement, choked her until she passed out and again forced her to perform oral sex.

The suspect fled the scene after the attack, officials said. EMS took the victim to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video released by police which shows him standing in the doorway of a building, closing the door and then running away with a plastic shopping bag. In the video, he’s wearing a dark button-down shirt, white sneakers and glasses. Police say he is approximately 5’ 10” tall, 200 pounds and has a Caribbean accent and a scarred and discolored eye.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
