MANHATTAN — A woman tried to kidnap a 2-year-old boy from a Central Park playground Tuesday, police said.

The unidentified woman snatched the toddler from a swing in Heckscher Playground at 10:30 a.m and carried him off toward the exit, police said.

The boy's 27-year-old nanny, who was watching one other child, swooped in and grabbed the boy from the suspect's arms before she could leave, according to the NYPD.

No one was injured during the incident but police are searching for the woman involved.

The suspect weighs around 140 pounds, has short, curly black hair and was last seen wearing dark colored pants, police said.

Anyone with information on the kidnapping attempt should visit Crime Stoppers or call 1-800-577-TIPS.
