Taking photos of restaurant food has become so commonplace that there are now special plates designed to make your meal stand out on Instagram.
But one Park Slope waitress has taken the practice to new heights, or lows, in this case.
Alyssa Blumstein, a photographer who waits tables at a Park Slope restaurant, has launched a blog called Slop Art devoted to chronicling table scraps and drink dregs, Viewing NYC reported Wednesday.
“It gives a fun artistic element to my work day,” Blumstein told DNAinfo New York. “Everyone can see what sort of artistic beauty is unfolding in there.”
Some viewers find the photos stomach-turning and “visceral,” but others feel the images have an odd beauty, Blumstein said.
She declined to name the restaurant, but said it was a “wonderful, reputable,” establishment.
The photos offer some clues. The menu apparently includes limes, lemons and beverages served with ice and black cocktail straws. So it's potentially any restaurant in the city.
