PARK SLOPE — A burglar crept into a house and stole $4,600 in valuables while the couple that lives there was asleep on April 22, according to a police report.

The husband was slumbering on the living room couch and his wife was fast asleep in an upstairs bedroom when the burglary occurred sometime between midnight and 4 a.m. on Eighth Street and Prospect Park West, the report said. The husband woke briefly and heard a "thump" outside the house, but fell back asleep, according to the report.

When he woke up in the morning, he found the back door open and several items missing from the house.

The stolen property included a $900 Botkier handbag, $2,000 in cashier's checks, an Apple MacBook laptop, two wallets and a fountain pen. There were no signs of forced entry, according to the police report.

Other notable crimes in the 78th Precinct include the following, with all details drawn from police reports:

Gomez eventually freed the drawer, then ran away. Police found him shortly after walking into the back of La Villa restaurant on Garfield Place and Fifth Avenue with the cash drawer under his arm. Officers found a knife in a nearby trash can.
