Man Slashes Coworker in Head in Retaliation for Prank: Police

GREENPOINT — A man slashed a co-worker in the head with a pocket knife after the colleague honked a truck horn in attempt to scare him, police said.

The victim, 50, said he was backing his truck into his business on Meeker Avenue on Thursday, April 23 around 5 p.m. when he honked his horn to scare his co-worker, police said.

The suspect, a 53-year-old man, responded by pulling out his pocket knife and cutting the victim on the left side of his forehead, police said.

He then hopped into his silver 2004 Lexus sedan and drove east on Meeker Avenue, police said.

Emergency Medical Services treated the victim on the scene, police said.

No one has been arrested for the incident.

Other notable incidents in the 94th precinct include:

► A man who hosted a barbecue noticed that more than $1,700 worth of his property was taken, police said.

The man, 26, said he had the barbecue on Saturday, April 18 between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Woodpoint Road, where friends and their guests were welcome, police said.

The next day, he saw that his laptop and iPhone 5S had been taken, a value of about $1,789, police said. The property was out in the open and could have been taken by anybody, police said.

No one has been arrested for the incident.

► A woman who was walking on North Fourth Street had her purse ripped away from her by a passing man, police said.

The victim, 23, said she was walking on North Fourth Street near Driggs Avenue on Sunday, April 26 around 1:35 a.m. when a man grabbed and tugged at her purse, police said.

The man, about 25, ultimately ripped the purse away from her and ran toward Driggs Avenue, police said.

Police are investigating the incident.

► A woman came home from work to find more than $6,000 worth of property gone, police said.

The victim, 29, said she was gone from her Calyer Street apartment on Monday, April 20 between 9:20 a.m. and 7:40 p.m., police said.

She found her apartment door broken and open and her home ransacked, police said. About $6,300 worth of property was gone, including an iMac computer, a camera, jewelry and a hard drive, police said.

No one has been arrested for the incident.
