3D in the 21st Century Opens at Brooklyn Academy of Music
Where: Peter Jay Sharp Building, 30 Lafayette Avenue, Fort Greene
Brooklyn Academy of Music is kicking off a 3D film festival this weekend with films like Step Up, Avatar, Beowulf and even Justin Bieber: Never Say Never jumping off the screen. Other films include Gravity, Pina, Katy Perry: Part of Me and there's also flicks for the kiddies like The Adventures of Tintin and Coraline. The festival starts on May 1 and goes until May 17.

If you missed Earth Day, but still want to help clean up your community, lend a hand to the Washington Avenue Merchants Association clean up Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights at their annual clean-up event. The group will meet at Lowry Triangle at 10 a.m. and walk down to Eastern Parkway, cleaning sidewalks and tree pits. Wear orange to show your support!

Bring to the kids to this Alice-in-Wonderland themed festival to benefit programming at the Old Stone House and Washington Park in Park Slope. Tickets for a family cost $25 and includes healthy drinks and snacks, face painting and performances from 10 a.m. To 4 p.m.
Snail Mail Mother’s Day Pop-Up
Where: Daily Press Coffee, 505 Franklin Ave.
Don’t forget to send mom a card. Snail Mail Café, a letter-writing pop-up, is hosting a pre-Mother’s Day event this Sunday. Take your pick from a variety of stationary and cards and sit down with a cup of coffee to send a message to your loved one. Creator Sarah Bentley collects and mails out the letters after each event.
