FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A massive 76th-floor penthouse apartment atop Frank Gehry’s Lower Manhattan tower is back on the market — and it can be yours for just $45,000 a month.
The luxury “Penthouse North South,” which features sweeping city views from its nearly 850-foot vantage point, is the largest of three penthouses at the shimmery 8 Spruce St. steel building that sits steps from the Brooklyn Bridge.
The pricing may seem high, but it's actually a bargain — the five-bedroom apartment, which comes with a separate guest suite for visitors or a nanny, as realtors point out — was originally listed at $60,000 when it first was offered for rent in 2012.
Aside from the panoramic views, what you get for tens of thousands of dollars a month includes spacious rooms with 10-foot high ceilings and a variety of amenities.
The apartment features a master bathroom with heated marble floors, a glass-encased walk-in shower, along with a Duravit deep soaking tub and wall mounted towel warmers. The expansive master bedroom has a private sitting area and custom walk-in closet.
Some other perks: a separate wine refrigerator in the large kitchen, as well as motorized solar shades and built-in audio speakers throughout the apartment,
Then there’s also the luxury amenities the building offers to all residents, including an indoor, 50-foot swimming pool, a screening room, a grilling terrace and a fitness center with private training and spa rooms.
The price range for the other 900 apartments in the New York by Gehry building, which opened in 2011, are a little less soaring — from about $4,000 to $15,000 a month.
