QUEENS — A 3,000-square-foot penthouse that takes up an entire floor and features two bathrooms and two balconies can be yours in Jamaica for approximately $3,000 a month, according to developers.
The unit is part of a new Manhattan-style building at 190-11 Hillside Ave. near 191st Street, which is looking to bring a touch of the city to the neighborhood, said Shlomi Asherian, the owner of TCX Development, a Long Island-based real estate company behind the project.
The 15,000-square-foot building also features 21 one-bedroom units which are about 600 square feet each. Each has a balcony, high ceilings, hardwood floors and large windows and will be available for approximately $1,600 a month, Asherian said.
The building will start renting apartments in several weeks, Asherian said, amid numerous changes and developments coming to the neighborhood.
The building will also provide 11 parking spaces.
TCX Development is also planning three additional apartment buildings in the nearby Jamaica Estates area, on Wexford Terrace, near the 179th Street subway station on the F line.
Construction already started on one of them, the company said.
Asherian said that the four buildings he is planning for the area will have a total of about 150 units.
The developer also said he is currently in the process of purchasing another lot Downtown Jamaica, on the corner of Archer Avenue and 150 Street. Asherian said he is planning to use the lot, which he purchased for $2 million, for another apartment building or a hotel.
“I really believe in this neighborhood,” said Asherian, referring to numerous changes coming to the area, including new developments, restaurants and hotels.
The neighborhood, he noted, is also close to a number of highways, subway stations and the LIRR.
