UPPER WEST SIDE — A 25-year-old man was found dead in Central Park Sunday evening in what police sources suspect was a drug overdose.
At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a 911 call about a man lying unconscious and unresponsive on the ground inside the park along West Drive at West 72nd Street, near the Dakota and Strawberry Fields, police said.
EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said. He has not yet been identified, they said.
The man was found lying next to a syringe and is believed to have suffered a drug overdose, police sources said.
The Medical Examiner's Office is still investigating the official cause of death, a spokeswoman said.
