NEW YORK CITY — If you haven't started your taxes yet, there are still options to get help.

Nearly 2.5 million New Yorkers wait until the last few days before the April 15 deadline to file their taxes, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo's office. Luckily, there are services still available for those who need some guidance.

The city and The Food Bank have compiled maps of locations offering free tax preparation services for New Yorkers earning less than $20,000, or less than $53,000 for families.

Find additional sites offering free help on a map published by the Department of Consumer Affairs. Most of these centers accept walk-ins, but some limit services to residents within a specific income bracket so call the center before heading there.

You can also file your taxes online. Free tax preparation software is available for those who've earned less than $60,000 last year.

The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance also provides help centers in the city, where a trained employee will guide you through the online forms.

The Tax Department's call center at (518) 457-5181 will stay open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. until Wednesday to assist taxpayers with questions about their returns.

Whatever method you choose, don't forget to gather all the required documents before starting.
