UPPER WEST SIDE — A woman's purse containing a $20,000 engagement ring was stolen from an Equinox gym on Columbus Avenue, police said.

The victim, 38, was working out at the fitness club near West 67th Street and went to use the bathroom in the ladies locker room on March 31 about 9 a.m., leaving her purse hooked on the back of a stall door, police said.

When she returned 15 minutes later, the purse was gone along with the pricey engagement ring she'd left inside and her credit cards, police said.

Police did not say whether any of the cards had been charged and could not provide a description of the engagement ring.

The gym did not immediately return a request for comment.
