LOWER EAST SIDE —  A woman struck a bouncer in the head with a glass bottle early Sunday morning after he asked her to leave The Whiskey Ward Bar, the police and staff from the bar said.

The 33-year-old bouncer and the woman got into an argument at the 121 Essex St. bar around 4 a.m. after she and another man came in after closing time, the NYPD and a bartender there said.

The woman pulled a glass bottle out of her bag and struck the bouncer in the head with it, according to the police and Jon Hughes, the bartender.

He suffered cuts and was treated at Woodhull Hospital for his injuries, the NYPD said.  

“He got 10 stitches, right in the middle of the head,” Hughes said.

The NYPD is asking for the public's assistance locating the woman wanted in connection with the assault. The police also want to question the man who was accompanying her at the time of the incident.
