Man Robbed After Being Asked for Directions to G Train, Police Say

WILLIAMSBURG — A man who stopped to give two passersby directions to the G train ended up in a chokehold and robbed, police said.

The man, 34, was on Lorimer Street near Ten Eyck Street Saturday, March 7, around 4 a.m., when two people stopped and asked him for directions to the G train, police said.

While the man was giving directions, one person choked him from behind with his arms, police said. The other person went into the man's pockets and took an iPhone 5S and a leather wallet.

They then threw the man to the ground and ran toward Union Avenue, police said. The victim said his throat hurt from the chokehold.

One of the robbers was described as 20 years old, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. The other one was described as wearing gray outerwear and blue jeans, police said.

No one has been arrested for the incident.

Other notable incidents in the 90th precinct include:

► A deliveryman was robbed of $800 after being threatened with a knife, police said.

The man, 33, was leaving a delivery on Havemeyer Street near Hope Street on Monday, March 2 around 12:30 p.m. when a man approached him with a knife, police said.

The robber, who was about 6-foot-10 and 250 pounds, said "Give me all your money" as a second person stood nearby, police said. The victim handed the man his belongings, which included $800, a black wallet and several credit cards and debit cards.

The men then fled on Hope Street toward Roebling Street. Police are investigating the incident.

► A man who met up with a woman from Facebook ended up getting robbed at gunpoint of $500 by men who showed up at his apartment after the meeting, police said.

The victim, 29, was walking the woman, who he recently met on the social networking site, to the first floor exit of his home on Flushing Avenue near Knickerbocker Avenue on Monday, March 2 around 12:20 a.m.

When they got to the first floor, the woman ran out and several men entered the building, including an acquaintance of the victim's named "Progress" and two unknown men. They went up to the fourth floor hallway, and one person, who had a black firearm, demanded $500.

One man was described as 5-foot-10 with braids, and the other was 5-foot-8 and wore black outerwear, police said. The woman was 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.

No one has been arrested for the incident.
