QUEENS — A beagle that was placed in intensive care last week after being rescued from a Queens fire has made a full recovery and is ready to go home, a veterinary clinic said Wednesday.

Duke was taken to BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Forest Hills after he inhaled carbon monoxide during the fire, which broke out in St. Albans last Tuesday.

The dog had to be treated in a special oxygen chamber for 3 days, the clinic said.

But Duke has made a full recovery and his owners were scheduled to pick him up on Wednesday afternoon, according to the clinic.

“He is happy and he is ready to go home,” said Paul Miranda, the practice manager at BluePearl, on Wednesday.

He also said that although the dog was not burned, Duke’s fur was “completely grey" and covered with soot when he was brought in. “Now his fur is white,” he said. “And he is very playful.”

The family won’t be charged for the treatment, Miranda said.

The bill, which has exceeded $5,000, will be partially covered by Frankie's Friends, a nonprofit focused on saving pets. The charity set up a page last week raising funds to help the owners with their medical bills.

As of Wednesday morning, the site has raised more than $2,600 of a $6,000 goal.

“We still continue to do some fundraising,” Miranda said.

The dog, who is turning two on March 23, was home alone when the fire erupted. Firefighters were not able to immediately locate the owners, and passed the dog to NYPD investigators, who took Duke to the clinic.
