UPPER WEST SIDE — Legendary lingerie store Town Shop has been a staple in the neighborhood for nearly 80 years, but its reputation has grown far beyond the Big Apple — with the shop known for hosting bachelorette parties for groups from as far away as Arizona on any given Saturday.

Danny Koch, the fourth-generation owner of the store that originally opened in 1888, has developed a knack for stocking popular bras and understanding how to be sensitive to his customers.

He's helped the business stay on or ahead of trends, expanded into a larger space and even built a section for men to hang out and browse for their own underwear.

For our latest podcast, we spoke with Koch about his trajectory, the neighborhood's past and how the business is changing.

We want to hear your reactions. What are your favorite mom-and pop-businesses? What's the best way to sustain them? Let us know in the comments below.
