Monday, March 9
What happens when a star explodes? How do we study a phenomenon that happens huge distances away in space and far back in time? In the Hayden Planetarium Program “Frontiers Lecture: Supernova Forensics: A Stellar Investigation from Cradle to Grave and Beyond,“ astrophysicist Alicia Soderberg answers the big questions after reviewing new results from her Harvard Supernova Forensics research group. Tuesday, March 10
In “From Spitting to Spreading: Subway Etiquette Then and Now” hear about the creation of the MTA’s Courtesy Counts campaign and its history from MTA Corporate Communications Chief Connie Depalma and Director of Graphics Rick Stewart. Then, take an look at the original "Subway Sun" etiquette advertisements, dating back to the 1940s, from the Museum’s permanent collection. Transit Museum, Boerum Place, Downtown Brooklyn. From 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., $10.

Wednesday, March 11
The Queens Museum’s newest exhibition, "After Midnight, Indian Modernism To Contemporary India 1947/1997," examines Indian modern art from 1947 — the year of Indian independence — through to the 1970s, and contemporary art from 1997 to the present. This exhibition showcases some of India’s modern masters including F.N. Souza, M.F. Husain and S.H. Raza for the first time in a large-scale retrospective. New York City Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park. From noon until 6 p.m. $8.

Thursday, March 12
MoMA is currently celebrating the work of Wim Wenders, one of postwar Germany’s most accomplished and influential filmmakers, with a major career retrospective. All his classics, including "Wings of Desire," "Paris, Texas" and "Buena Vista Social Club" are being shown during the season, which runs through March 17. Also on offer are a selection of Wenders’ early short films and selections of his commercial work and music videos. On Thursday, you can catch "The Soul of a Man" [part 2 of Martin Scorsese’s "The Blues"] at 4 p.m. and "Buena Vista Social Club" at 6:30 p.m. "Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire)" and "In Weiter Ferne, So Nah! (Faraway, So Close!)" are screening tomorrow. $12, free for members. Museum of Modern Art, 11 W. 53 St., Midtown.
