WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — The corpse of a man in advanced stages of decay was found near the George Washington Bridge underpass on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Just before 2 p.m., police said they found the unidentified "badly decomposed" man lying near 1015 Riverside Drive in the 33rd Precinct under an underpass to the bridge.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the man was homeless and died of exposure, a source said.

EMS workers pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police officials said there were no signs of trauma on the man's body.

The Medical Examiner has yet to determine cause of death and an investigation is ongoing.
