WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Police are asking for help finding a man they say robbed a 17-year-old at gunpoint.

In security camera footage, the suspect is seen following the male teen out of an elevator on Feb. 19 with what police say is a gun trained on the victim's back.

The robbery occurred in an apartment building at an undisclosed location in the 33rd precinct, which covers Washington Heights, at around 2:20 p.m., police said.

The 17-year-old had been returning home when he was followed into an elevator, police said. When the victim got off at his floor, the thief took out a gun, demanded that the victim surrender his possessions and then fled the building.

He took the victim's jewelry, jacket, cell phone and two pairs of sneakers, police said.
