JACKSON HEIGHTS — Police have identified a suspect who allegedly stabbed a young dad to death as he walked to get a haircut by his home in December.

Officials are looking for 22-year-old William Avila, who they say stabbed Steven Shimabuku, 25, to death on 37th Avenue near 90th Street at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19.

Shimabuku, a plumber and father of a 3-year-old boy, left that evening to get a haircut but came running back to his home up the street moments later after being stabbed, according to reports.

He was stabbed outside a bodega on the corner of his home, and later died at Elmhurst Hospital.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect — who was wearing a camouflage jacket — in January and identified him as Avila Friday.
