BROOKLYN — A 77-year-old man was found dead on the Coney Island boardwalk Monday morning, officials said.

Bai-Ping Wen's body was found near Stillwell Avenue about 7:15 a.m., NYPD officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wen, who lived nearby on 21st Street, didn't have any obvious injuries, police said. On Tuesday, the medical examiner said Wen had died of complication from high blood pressure and diabetes.

Wen's relatives told reporters that he had gone to visit friends on Sunday but never made it home that night, according to the New York Daily News.

Temperatures Monday morning hovered about 4 degrees with a wind chill making it feel like 5 to 15 degrees below zero, forecasters said. Some officials previously suspected Wen had died of exposure.
