THE BRONX — A thief who found no money at a bodega he was robbing stole a can of beer instead, police said.

The man, who can be seen in a photo released by police, demanded cash from a clerk of Alvin Grocery at 1735 Gleason Ave., at Rosedale Avenue in The Bronx, about 3 p.m. Jan. 11, an NYPD spokesman said.

When the clerk said the register was empty, the robber threatened to shoot him, though no gun was seen, police said.

He then snatched a can of Cobra beer and an LG cellphone and fled, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is in his 20s and was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and black gloves, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
