15 Subway Lines Slated for Service Changes This Weekend

 There will be no 7 train service between Manhattan and Queens this weekend. The  2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, D, E, F, L, Q, R and 42nd Shuttle are also slated for service changes.

MIDTOWN — In the middle of winter's cold, snowy grip, commuters are forced to shuffle quickly to and from the subway with heads bundled, tilted forward into the wind.

This weekend may involve a little more walking in the elements as 15 subway lines are slated for service changes.

Here is your breakdown:

2 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between 3rd Avenue-149th Street and 96th Street from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Shuttle buses will run in two sections:

  • Nonstop between 3 Av-149th St and 96th St.
  • Local between 3 Av-149th St and 96th St., making station stops at 149th St.-Grand Concourse, 145th St., 135th St., 125th St., 116th St., and 110th St.

3 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between Harlem-148th Street and New Lots Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Free shuttle buses will run between 148th Street and 96th Street. 2 trains will make stops between 96th Street and Franklin Avenue. 4 trains will make all stops between Franklin Avenue and New Lots Avenue.

4 Line: Downtown trains will run express from Grand Central to 14th Street-Union Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Trains will run local and service will be extended to and from New Lots Avenue from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

5 Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between East 180th Street and Bowling Green from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riders can take the 2 or 4 train instead. 5 shuttle trains will run all weekend between East 180th Street and Eastchester-Dyre Avenue.

6 Line: Downtown trains will run express from Grand Central-42nd Street to 14th Street-Union Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Downtown trains will also run express from Parkchester to Hunts Point Avenue from 6:45 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday.

There is no service at Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions at all times until February 2015.

For service to and from Zerega Avenue, riders can take the Bx4 or shuttle buses.

For service to and from Buhre Avenue, riders can use the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses

7 Line: Service will be suspended between Times Square-42nd Street and Queensboro Plaza from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Monday. Riders can use the E, F, N or Q trains for service between Manhattan and Queens.

Free shuttle buses will make all local stops between Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue and Queensboro Plaza.

The 42nd Street shuttle operates overnight and Q service will be extended to Ditmars Boulevard.

A Line: Downtown trains run express form 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Service will be suspended in both directions between Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service.

Trains heading to Howard Beach-Far Rockaway will skip 88th Street and Rockaway Boulevard.

For service to 88th Street and Rockaway Boulevard, riders can take the A to Aqueduct-North Conduit Avenue and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A.

For service from those stations toward the Rockaways, take a Brooklyn-bound A to 80th Street and transfer to a Rockaway-bound A.

C Line: Downtown trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Trains will run every 15 minutes.

E Line: Downtown trains will run express from 34th Street-Penn Station to Canal Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica Center-bound trains will skip 75th Avenue and Briarwood-Van Wyck Boulevard from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica Center-bound trains will also run express form Roosevelt Avenue to Forest Hills-71st Avenue from 12:01 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday.

Manhattan-bound trains will run local from Forest Hills-71st Avenue to Roosevelt Avenue from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

D Line: Trains will be rerouted over the N line from 36th Street to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

For service to 9th Avenue, Fort Hamilton Parkway, 50th Street, 55th Street, 71st Street, 79th Street, 18th Avenue, 20th Avenue, Bay Parkway, 25th Avenue, and Bay 50th Street, riders can take a train to 62nd Street-New Utrecht Avenue or Coney Island and transfer to a Manhattan-bound train.

For service from these stations, riders can take a Manhattan-bound D train to 62nd Street-New Utrecth or 36th Street and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue-bound D train.

F Line: Jamaica-179th Street-bound trains will skip 75th Avenue, Briarwood-Van Wyck Boulevard and Sutphin Boulevard from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica-bound trains will be rerouted over the M line form 47-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center to Roosevelt Avenue form 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Coney Island-bound trains will run local from Forest Hills-71st Avenue to Roosevelt Avenue from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Coney Island-bound trains will run express from Smith-9th Streets to Neptune Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

L Line: Service will be suspended in both directions between 8th Avenue and 14th Street-Union Square from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Service will run normally between Union Square and Canarsie. The M14 bus will provide alternate service.

Q Line: Service will be extended to Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

R Line: Trains will run express from Roosevelt Avenue to Forrest Hills-71st Avenue from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 10:45 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, and from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 10:45 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

42nd Street Shuttle: Service will operate overnight from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday.
