UPPER WEST SIDE — Trendy retailer Urban Outfitters' 16-year run at West 72nd Street and Broadway appears to be coming to an end.

The three-story 24,985-square-foot space is being marketed by brokers from Cushman & Wakefield for possession July 1, 2015, according to a recently published listing.

The 2085 Broadway location, the first on the Upper West Side, opened in 1999 in place of music store HMV. In 2010, Urban Outfitters signed a 10-year lease for a second neighborhood store on Broadway between West 99th and 100th streets.

Last year, the brand closed one store while opening 11 others, according to a Jan. 8 investor relations announcement.

During a conference call on Jan. 13, Urban Outfitters CFO Frank Contori conceded that "the store count will be slightly lower next year for the Urban Outfitters brand," according to a transcript of the call.

Including the West 72nd and Broadway location, the brand has 12 stores across the city, with 11 in Manhattan and one in Williamsburg.

Urban Outfitters did not respond to a request for comment.

► The Burberry Brit store on Columbus Avenue between West 67th and 68th streets is also on the market, represented by brokers Cushman & Wakefield.

The famed English brand, known best for its $400-plus cashmere scarves and trench coats, opened in the spring of 2010.

Shortly thereafter, upscale clothing brands like Rag & Bone, Helmut Lang, Maje and Kate Spade opened nearby, making the area a shopping destination.

Burberry's nearly 3,000-square-foot ground-floor space has been the repeated target of shoplifters. In one instance, three men stole $16,620 worth of merchandise from the store, police said. And late January, a man and a woman stole $1,300 worth of scarves from the store, police said.

Burberry did not respond to a request for comment.

► The Ann Taylor LOFT space on Broadway and West 69th Street has been listed for rent for $2.15 million a year, after the brand opened a new outpost in the Columbus Square retail corridor this past summer.

The brand has reportedly had difficulties over the past few years and was interested in closing its 2015 Broadway space as far back as 2008.

According to parent company Ann Inc.net sales were $646.8 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2014, compared with total net sales of $657.5 million in the third quarter of 2013.

However, net sales at Ann Taylor LOFT picked up slightly, to $413.8 million in the third quarter of 2014 compared to $408.4 million in the third quarter of 2013.

Ann Taylor LOFT did not respond to request for comment.
