NEW YORK CITY — When the weather outside is frightful, get out from the cold and head into the kitchen to whip up a few delightful recipes to keep you warm.

DNAinfo New York has rounded up five flavorful meals that will tempt your tastebuds while you huddle inside.

RECIPE 1: TOM KA GAI SOUP

This delicious Thai soup incorporates lemongrass, ginger, coconut milk and lime to make a soothing elixir that is good for the cold weather or if you are feeling sick.

RECIPE 2: CURRIED CAULIFLOWER AND LEEK SOUP

Potato leek soup is a classic, but this recipe puts a spin on the stick-to-your-ribs brew. Cauliflower ups the nutrition and the curry adds some spice.

RECIPE 3: FIERY CHILI

Chili is great comfort food that is also good for you. This recipe uses mostly beans and incorporates the smoke of chipotle peppers. Try it by itself or with some rice.

RECIPE 4: PEA SOUP WITH MINT AND GARLIC CROUTONS

It may be snowy outside, but you can still enjoy the taste of fresh peas with this soup that takes advantage of the frozen kind. They're just as good, if not better than fresh, and convenient year-round.

RECIPE 5: CREAMY CARROT AND GINGER SOUP

Get the chill out with a delicious and healthy bowl of carrot-ginger soup. Packed with vitamins and minerals, this is energy food to warm you up for the day or to enjoy for a delicious dinner.
